Invitation to 2016 LCMP and LOOP Labelling Award Ceremony

We would like to cordially invite you to join us and celebrate the 2016 Low Carbon Manufacturing Programme (LCMP) and Low-carbon Office Operation Programme (LOOP) Labelling Award Ceremony.  The LCMP and LOOP are WWF’s initiatives to engage business and industry in Hong Kong and China to reduce carbon emissions.

The Paris Climate Agreement has come into force on 4th November and it’s time for companies to step up efforts in deep decarbonisation for a sustainable future. You are all pioneers showcasing various sorts of do-able low-carbon actions in the past seven years. We truly believe when these genuine low-carbon actions are practised by the majority of society, we would have a better chance to limit the average global temperature rise to well below 2 degree Celsius against pre-industrial time. We encourage you to bring more colleagues or business associates to the Ceremony to celebrate the success of LOOP and LCMP company’s carbon performance as well as to provide them a chance of direct dialogue with other low-carbon champions.

Date:            19th December 2016 (Monday)

Time:            14:30 – 17:00

Venue:           Zero Carbon Building (8, Sheung Yuet Road, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong)

Dress code:   Smart casual

(*If you are interested in this event, please register here. Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.)

The LCMP- and LOOP-accredited companies have collectively avoided over 143,000 tonnes of carbon emissions against business-as-usual scenario. These figures would represent 6,210,000 trees one whole year to absorb. Along with the great achievement in carbon reduction, 2016 has been an eventful year for us at WWF: The LCMP pilot implementation in Vietnam was completed successfully; a LOOP plus pilot-test is underway, aiming to facilitate companies’ disclosure of carbon emissions and other environmental KPIs for the whole business;  the Low Carbon Changemaker toolkit has been downloaded for more than 1600 times since launch in last December and we are now running an online election of the favourite low-carbon staff activities. You are welcome to cast your vote here and the result will be announced at the Ceremony.

Renewable energy utilizes natural resources such as sunlight and wind which are naturally replenished. This offers alternatives to the burning of fossil fuels in electricity generation. WWF will officially launch the Hong Kong’s First Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) at the Ceremony. There will be 10 RECs exclusively offered for the LCMP or LOOP companies. Each REC has a unique identification number, marked with the amount of renewable energy it represents, and an issuing period. If you would like to support this Hong Kong Tai O community solar PV project, please refer to Appendix II for details.

We also hold “Let’s devise our Zero Carbon Roadmap together” session. Awarded companies will share their experience on zero carbon management. Participants can also exchange ideas of how to advance the zero carbon sustainable development. It is a great opportunity for you and your colleagues to be motivated to further achieve sustainable development.  We believe your participation would be an unparalleled inclusion to our success in LOOP and LCMP.

We look forward to seeing you, your colleagues and business associates on 19 December. Please feel free to contact us at (852) 2161-9655 or email to or for any enquiry.
